Introduction
Operations Strategy – Value Streams introduces practical methods for designing, analysing, and improving value streams that deliver products and services efficiently from initial demand to customer delivery. A value stream represents the complete sequence of activities required to create value, and understanding these flows enables organisations to eliminate waste, improve responsiveness, reduce costs, and strengthen operational performance.
This five-day course develops practical skills in value stream mapping, flow analysis, bottleneck identification, Lean improvement, and performance measurement. Through real operational case studies and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to redesign value streams, improve cross-functional collaboration, and establish measurable improvement plans that support long-term operational excellence.
Objectives
2. Analyse value stream performance using lead time, cycle time, throughput, inventory, and process efficiency measures.
3. Apply Lean principles to improve flow, reduce bottlenecks, and eliminate non-value-added activities.
4. Design future-state value streams that align operational processes with customer and business requirements.
5. Develop implementation plans with performance measures, governance, and continuous improvement actions to sustain value stream improvements.
