Introduction

English for Navy develops the communication skills required by naval personnel operating in national and multinational maritime environments. The course focuses on the practical English used for shipboard operations, navigation, engineering, logistics, safety procedures, and communication with allied naval forces, port authorities, and civilian maritime organisations.

This five-day programme combines realistic naval scenarios, operational terminology, radio communication, and practical exercises to improve accuracy, confidence, and situational awareness. Participants will strengthen their ability to communicate effectively during routine operations, emergency situations, joint exercises, and international maritime missions.

Objectives

1. Use standard naval English and maritime terminology for routine shipboard operations and professional communication.
2. Communicate effectively during navigation, engineering, logistics, and operational activities using clear and accurate English.
3. Deliver operational briefings, situation reports, and incident reports using recognised naval communication standards.
4. Apply standard radio communication procedures when communicating with vessels, naval units, and maritime authorities.
5. Coordinate confidently with multinational naval forces and civilian maritime organisations using professional and unambiguous language.
