Course Information

Introduction

Environmental sustainability and climate action have become central priorities for NGOs working in community development, humanitarian response, education, health, and economic development. Organisations are increasingly expected to reduce their environmental impact while designing projects that strengthen community resilience and support sustainable development goals.
This five-day course provides practical knowledge and tools for integrating environmental sustainability into NGO programmes and operations. Participants will learn how to assess environmental impacts, develop climate-responsive initiatives, engage communities in sustainable practices, and monitor environmental outcomes through practical case studies and real-world applications.

Objectives

Understand the principles of environmental sustainability and climate action within NGO programmes and community development initiatives.
Assess environmental and climate-related risks that may affect projects, communities, and organisational operations.
Design and implement sustainable projects that promote environmental protection and climate resilience.
Engage stakeholders and communities in environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and climate adaptation activities.
Develop practical monitoring and reporting systems to measure environmental performance and project sustainability.

- Participants are expected to engage in guided self-study, reading, or personal reflection on the day’s content. This contributes toward the CPD accreditation and deepens conceptual understanding.
- 02:00 PM – 04:00 PM Self-Study & Reflection

Please Note:
- All training sessions are conducted from Monday to Friday, following the standard working week observed in the United Kingdom and European Union. Saturday and Sunday are official weekends and are not counted as part of the course duration.
- Coffee and refreshments are available on a floating basis throughout the morning. Participants may help themselves at their convenience to ensure an uninterrupted learning experience Provided if applicable and subject to course delivery arrangements.
