 Operations Strategy - Operational Design

Outlines

Executive Master in Strategic Finance and Business Leadership

Course Information

Introduction

This five-day course teaches how to design operations that deliver strategy in measurable ways. You will learn tools to map processes, set operational targets, and restructure workflows and capacity. The program combines diagnostics, design patterns, and hands-on exercises drawn from real cases. This matters because cost pressure, tighter service expectations, and new technology make operational choices consequential.

Objectives

1. Map and diagnose end-to-end processes using value-stream and process-mapping tools to identify waste and bottlenecks.
2. Translate strategic objectives into measurable operations targets (throughput, lead time, uptime, cost per unit).
3. Design capacity, layout and workforce plans that match demand profiles and variability.
4. Define operating models, handoffs and decision rights, and set KPIs and governance to sustain performance.
5. Build a staged pilot and rollout plan with risk assessment, success criteria, and expected cost and benefit estimates.

Who Should Attend?

• Operations managers (plant, site, or service operations)
• Manufacturing or production managers responsible for output and quality
• Supply chain planners and logistics managers involved in network or fulfillment design
• Continuous improvement leads (Lean, Six Sigma, process excellence)
• Program managers leading operational change or transformation initiatives

Training Method

• Pre-assessment
• Live group instruction
• Use of real-world examples, case studies and exercises
• Interactive participation and discussion
• Power point presentation, LCD and flip chart
• Group activities and tests
• Post-assessment
If Applicable:
• Each participant receives a 7” Tablet containing a copy of the presentation, slides and handouts

Program Support

This program is supported by:
* Interactive discussions
* Role-play
* Case studies and highlight the techniques available to the participants.
