Introduction

This course teaches core financial concepts for people who do not work in finance. It focuses on the numbers you need to make everyday decisions: budgets, forecasts, costs and performance metrics. You will practice reading financial statements, assessing costs and benefits, and presenting financial information clearly. Lessons are practical and linked to real workplace scenarios.

Objectives

Read and interpret an income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement to find decision-relevant information.
Build a simple operating budget, track variances, and explain the causes of those variances.
Calculate and apply key performance indicators (for example: gross margin, EBITDA, ROI, cash conversion cycle) to departmental decisions.
Model basic project economics, including break-even and return-on-investment, to compare options.
Prepare concise financial summaries and visuals that communicate implications to non-financial stakeholders.
