Introduction

Human rights and social justice advocacy equips practitioners to protect rights, change policy, and support affected communities. The five-day course focuses on practical skills: documenting violations, designing campaigns, engaging decision-makers, and managing risk. Sessions use case studies, hands-on exercises, and peer feedback. Content is field-oriented and ready to apply at local and national levels.

Objectives

1. Create a results-oriented advocacy strategy with clear objectives, target audiences, tactics, timelines, and indicators.
2. Collect, verify, and present human rights evidence using basic standards for documentation and chain of custody.
3. Draft concise policy briefs, submissions, and public messaging tailored to policymakers, media, and communities.
4. Map stakeholders, build coalitions, and apply practical outreach and negotiation techniques to influence decision-makers.
5. Identify and mitigate security, legal, and ethical risks to affected people and advocacy teams.
