Course Information

Introduction

Clear English reduces errors, delays, and rework in engineering work. This five-day course builds practical language skills for writing, speaking, and reading technical material. Lessons use real engineering tasks: specifications, test reports, emails, meetings, and short presentations. Participants practice with templates and feedback they can apply immediately.

Objectives

1. Write clear technical reports and specifications (one- to two-page documents) with correct structure and terminology.
2. Draft concise professional emails to suppliers, contractors, and colleagues that minimise requests for clarification.
3. Deliver a structured 10-minute technical presentation and handle common follow-up questions.
4. Explain design decisions, test results, and troubleshooting steps verbally to cross-functional teams.
5. Read, interpret, and summarise datasheets, drawings, and standards to extract key requirements and action items.

1. Mechanical Design Engineers responsible for specifications and supplier communications.
2. Electrical Design Engineers producing schematics, datasheets, and test reports.
